Ref:   Scrutiny of Nomination Forms: Election to the Second Council of

          the Indian Institute of Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors

            This is further to the Election Notification dated 29th December 2008 which was published in the Times of India (All India Editions), Eenadu (Telugu daily), website of IIISLA and website of IRDA.

As per the notification, nominations had been invited for 4 vacancies (2 from South Zone, 1 from East Zone and 1 on All India Basis). As per Provision 3 (a) of the Revised “Regulations & Procedure for the Conduct of Elections to the Council” dated 17.12.2008, (R&P of 17.12.2008), I, the undersigned Election Officer had selected the names of the eight members, by draw of lots, who were to decide on the 50% (i.e. 4 elected members) who would be retiring this year and had requested them to communicate the same to the Election Officer within a period of three days. While one member voluntarily retired from the election process, the 8 members could not arrive at a decision regarding retirements. Hence, in consonance with Provision 3 (a) of the Revised “R&P of 17.12.2008”, the Election Officer had to draw lots to select the remaining 3 members who would retire this year.

          As per the above Election Notification dated 29^th December 2008, nineteen nomination forms were received within the prescribed due date/ time. The nominations were scrutinized at 11.00 a.m. on 13^th January 2009 at TAC, Head Office, Mumbai in the presence of Mr. M. J. Dhruva, existing elected Member, IIISLA (available at Mumbai), Mr. G.S. Dharap, Manager and Mr. K. O. Antony, Deputy Manager of Tariff Advisory Committee.

            Of the nominations received, three were invalid. The sixteen nominations found valid for elections are listed below zone-wise:

As per the Election Notification, the last date/ time for withdrawal of nominations is before 5.00 pm on 20.1.2009 by intimation in writing by post/ courier to the Election Officer by the candidate concerned and the intimation should reach the Election Officer on or before the aforesaid date and time at the following address:

This notification is issued on the website of IIISLA for the information of all concerned. A copy of the said notification, for further information of the Members of IIISLA, is being sent to IRDA with a request that the same may be displayed on the website of IRDA. The final list of Candidates will be announced, after withdrawal, if any, on or before 21st January 2009 as notified in the Election Notification, on the website of IIISLA and a copy of the same will be placed on IRDA website by the undersigned.
